Q.

I am trying to submit one of the Member Services forms online, but it just keeps making me wait and wait. What should I do?
A. There are a number of things that can cause "timing" things like this to happen:
  • Heavy Internet traffic that causes a slow response
  • A problem with your own ISP provider
  • A PC problem with your computer and the current connection you have to the Internet
  • A telephone line connection from your area
  • It's important to remember that the Internet has many variables in use between your request for a specific page and our server responding. Also it's a two way street. We may get the request for a specific page quickly, but in our return, it is slowed be any of the variables mention above. If you continue to experience this problem, email us at MemberServices@HealthAndWellnessClub.com.

    Q.

Why do I have a scroll bar at the bottom of the screen?
    A. Your display settings are set to the largest option, 640 x 480. The setting 800 x 600 should allow you to see the entire width without scrolling.
  • To change this on the PC, go to your Control Panel and click on Display. Choose the Settings Tab then change the Desktop Area by sliding the arrow.
  • To change this on the Mac, Go to your Control Panel and click on Monitors then click on a higher setting.

  • Q.

The page I am looking at is not displaying properly?
    A. There could be several reasons why you are experiencing difficulties. Please check the following solutions:

Your system may be saving old information.
Simultaneously, press the Ctrl key and click on the Refresh icon at the top of your screen. This will clear out any old information.

Your Browser may not be supported.
Microsoft and Netscape browsers prior to Version 4 lack support for what has become standard Internet coding practices. While we try to support all versions above 4, it is true that all browsers, including the very latest, have bugs.

Please note that AOL for the Macintosh and some configurations of Netscape 6 are not fully supported. For best results please use the latest version of Internet Explorer when using the site.

How do I determine what version of Internet Explorer I have?
    Open your Internet Explorer program
Click on the "Help" option of the menu bar - a drop down menu should appear
Choose "About Internet Explorer" from the Help submenu
Your version number will appear under the logo in the window that opens

How do I determine what version of Netscape I have?
    Open your Netscape program
Click on the "Help" option of the menu bar - a drop down menu should appear
Choose "About Navigator" from the Help submenu
Your version number will number will be the very top text in the window that opens

    Q.

Why can’t I get anywhere from the home page? Every time I click I just get right back to it.
    A. Your system may be saving old information. Simultaneously, press the Ctrl key and click on the Refresh icon at the top of your screen. This will clear out any old information.

    Q.

What do I do if another Member is posting off the topic?
    A. We read almost every post on the Bulletin Board and, if needed, will "jump in" in a variety of ways (editing posts, deleting posts, posting a reminder message, e-mailing someone personally, etc.) to keep things within the boundaries of the Terms of Use agreement. We try to stay "behind the scenes" enough to not disrupt the flow of posts - this is, after all, your web site. Most of the time things seem like they can, and do, get resolved without our intervention. If you need to call our attention to a particular post that you think we may have overlooked, click the "!" icon in the lower right of the post, or e-mail us at MemberServices@HealthAndWellnessClub.com

    Q.

How do I register and/or post a message for the Bulletin Board or Chat Room?
    A.
  • Click on Bulletin Board area of the site.
  • If you haven't done so already, register to use the Bulletin Board. To do this, click on the word "Register" (at the top-right of the screen).
  • Fill out the information - choose a UserName you want to use and be sure you type your correct e-mail address as you will be sent an e-mail verification immediately.
  • Check your email and open the "Email Confirmation Request" message. Inside the email is a link you need to click on to "verify your account". Click on that link and you will be taken back to the Bulletin Boards.
  • Here you will be asked to log-in. Enter your UserName and password (check your "Email Confirmation Request" if you forget).
  • To post your question, choose a Forum you are interested in and click on "New", then "Discussion".
  • To respond to a post, click "Reply", or click the Yellow Arrow next to "Reply" for a "Quick Reply".

  • Q.

Can I change my Bulletin Board UserName?
    A. No. The only way to use a different UserName is to re-register with the new name AND new email address. Remember, you will receive a new password via e-mail.

    Q.

Can I change my Bulletin Board Password?
    A. Yes. Click on any Bulletin Board page and then click on "Go", "My Space", then "Profile". At your profile page, click then link in the top right titled "Edit Profile". Once at that page, the second line down says "Change Account Password?" Click that box and you will be able to change your password.

    Q.

I can't remember my Bulletin Board Password.
    A. If you can't find the original e-mail or can't remember your password, have the system send it to you again. Go to any Bulletin Board page and click on "Login". On the Login page, click "Lost Password?" next to "Your password". Enter the email address you used when you registered (they must be the same address) and it will be sent to you shortly.

    Q.

My Bulletin Board UserName or Password does not work.
    A. UserNames and Passwords are case-sensitive. Double-check the original e-mail you received to verify that you have entered all the letters and numbers exactly as they were sent to you, or if you don't have the e-mail, click "Lost Password?" on the "Login" page and all your registration details will be sent to you.

    Q.

Why does it look like some messages "disappear" after being on the Board for a while?
    A. They have either been deleted by the topic starter or original poster or deleted by the system because of inactivity (they system automatically deletes old messages to save server space).

    Q.

Why can't I see my posts or messages right away?
    A. After you write your message and click Submit, wait until the system automatically takes you back to the forum. If you don't see your post, try holding down the Control key while clicking on the Refresh button.

    Q.

Can I upload my own "Avatar"?
    A. Users cannot upload avatars directly to our bulletin boards, but if you want an avatar outside of our standard set of images, you can do so if they are hosted on another server (your ISP, etc.).
    To select a "custom avatar":
Click GO/My Space/Profile, then click "Edit Profile" on the right side of your screen. Scroll down to the "Avatar / Picture URL:" section and click "Edit your avatar"; a new window will pop-up. Here, you click "Custom Avatar", then select the button "URL for your Custom Avatar". A field will display below for you to paste the address of your image stored on another server. Enter that address, then click "Upload Avatar" and you will be taken back to your Profile window. Scroll down and click "Submit".

    Q.

The Navigation buttons (“Go”, “New”, “Find”, etc.) are not working.
    A. Older browers cannot handle all the features of the new bulletin boards. If you cannot see or use the main buttons ("Go", "New", "Find", etc.), then you need to upgrade your browser. Our bulletin boards support the following:
  • Internet Explorer 5.5+
  • Netscape 7+
  • Mozilla
  • Safari
  • Opera 7+

  • Q.

The system says I have to "Update my Profile" before letting me in.
    A. There are a few different things you need to do if the system says you need to update your profile.
  • Have you checked the Terms of Service box?
  • Have you answered the "security" question? (There is a feature on the new boards that asks a security question in case you lose/forget your password.) Make sure you have answered those two sections and it should let you in.

  • Q.

The system says I have to “Update my Profile” before letting me in, but I can’t scroll down to update it.
    A. If the "Update Profile" page does not allow you to scroll down to submit your new profile, click "Refresh" in your browser, or just hit enter on your keyboard, and the scroll bar should reappear.
